Can pain make me lose my erection?

August 22nd, 2010
The -W!Se-OI\IE asked:

I recently sustained a hand injury that causes severe pain upon pressure. I took a muscle relaxer on Thursday, the day of the injury, and since then, about 3 out of 4 times I have sex, I lose my erection. I thought it was because of the pain. So, instead of putting pressure on it, my girlfriend and I switched positions; however, I can’t maintain my erection while she’s on top either. What causes this to happen?
I took the muscle relaxer three days ago.

Can you get steroids in a pill form?

Doubtful asked:

My boyfriend went to doctor last week b/c of pain in his shoulder. It had been real tight, stiff and sore for months and I finally talked him into to go to doctor. The doctor said the muscle was inflammed and gave him a steroid shot and within an hour he was feeling much better. Doctor also gave him Flexril (a muscle relaxer) The day of and day after he was finally able to sleep in comfort & was in a much better mood b/c he wasn’t hurting. But it only lasted a couple days, now even with taking the Flexril it’s back to hurting again. He is going back to doctor next Wednesday but I was wondering if their is something in a pill form that would work like the steroid shot. Thanks in advance.

with a cracked bone in her neck my Mom has severe headaches -what specialist is best?

her doc prescribed what sounds like a muscle relaxer–she’s 89 and in great health except for several falls. The headaches go away at night and return in the afternoon. Besides a specialist MD—any other thoughts–acupuncture, etc? The headaches are debilitating for her. An MRI showed the cracked neckbone (she thinks #2??) The headaches are on the left side “high up”.

When Should I Go to the Chiropractor?

I have had acute low back pain for the last 36 hours. I have been to the Urgent Care center immediteley after the injury and was in the ER about 12 hours ago. At both visits I was given a shot of Toradol which took away about 20% of the pain for two hours. I was sent home with Vicodin, Naprosyn and a Muscle Relaxer. I have taken all medications within their prescribed limits and recieved minimal releif. The sedative effect of the medication enabled me to sleep for 3 hours and I have woken up with intractable pain and am several hours away from any medication being due.

I need some releif. Is it okay to go to the chiropractor in this acute state or would he do more harm than good?
