i have broken my leg in five places, and i am experiencing a lot of leg spasms which cause me pain. i was prescribed norco for the pain but i was told that muscle relaxers could help with the involuntary twitching and flexing. my friend gave me a few and i’m not sure how many i am allowed to take in a day. anyone know? thanks!

Well, you really shouldn’t be taking a prescription medication that was prescribed for someone else, and not prescribed for you. It could interact negatively with the other medications you are on, or just not interact well with your body, and could be very dangerous. That being said, Flexeril causes drowsiness, but when I was prescribed this medication, I was told to take one every twelve hours.

Flexeril is a muscle relaxant. It works by blocking nerve impulses (or pain sensations) that are sent to your brain.Do not take Flexeril if you have used an MAO inhibitor such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), tranylcypromine (Parnate), phenelzine (Nardil), or selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam) within the past 14 days. Serious, life-threatening side effects can occur if you take Flexeril before the MAO inhibitor has cleared from your body.
You should not take Flexeril if you have recently had a heart attack, or if you have a heart rhythm disorder, congestive heart failure, heart block, or an overactive thyroid.
