Below is an interesting article on the subject. A significant percentage of the estimated 20 million people with hypothyroidism end up also being diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Some experts believe that like most cases of hypothyroidism, fibromyalgia is also autoimmune in nature. Others believe that fibromyalgia may be one manifestation of an underactive metabolism – hypometabolism – and is therefore one variation on thyroid dysfunction.

Usually low t3 levels. A free t3 test is better than a tota T3 test. I know many people who were diagnosed with hypothyroidism and put on a T4/T3 medication and their fibro symptoms went away. T3 as in Cytomel or T4/T3 as in Armour has been used by some doctors to treat fibro.

I am hypothyroid and I had the muscle and joint aches as well. T4 (Levoxyl did not help, but when I got on T4 also the discomfort went away.

If you have Fms-you can have alot of other problems-like IBS and carpal tunnel-

there is a little known and not well accepted theory that FMSis caused by a thyroid problem.

the generally accept theory is that it is a neuro problem-which has been known for 10 years (it is not proven though) previous theories that are no longer generally accepted are a musculoskeletal or immune cause.
